Friends of Lake Sammamish State Park

Mission

Friends of Lake Sammamish State Park (FLSSP) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting, enhancing and promoting Lake Sammamish State Park for the benefit of the entire community. FLSSP commits to making outdoor recreation and Lake Sammamish State Park more accessible and welcoming to all communities, regardless of race, ethnicity, gender, ability, sexual orientation, or socioeconomic status. FLSSP aims to connect all communities to the environmental, educational and recreational resources at the park, and strengthen those connections through park improvements, community events, and community outreach. We work in support of and in cooperation with the Washington State Parks Commission to maintain and celebrate a highly successful park.

Description

Friends of Lake Sammamish State Park has worked diligently for over ten years to help sustain and enhance the community gem of Lake Sammamish State Park. Our community’s generosity has allowed FLSSP to develop vibrant signature events to bring people to the park; fund playgrounds for children; offer programming to educate the next generation of community members, artist, and conservationists; craft a vision for accessible enhanced trails; and, with partners, restore the Park’s natural environment to create a resilient, healthy ecosystem for humans and wildlife for generations to come. 

We have worked closely in the last several months with State Park staff to help identify immediate needs for Lake Sammamish State Park. One need that has consistently been brought to us by the community is the need for water bottle filling stations at the park. We will be fundraising this Spring 2025 to raise fund for the purchase and installation of two water bottling stations for the park - one for Sunset Beach and one for the Tibbetts Beach area. 

Your generous donation will go directly to support our "Just Add Water" campaign to ensure that we can provide a water bottle filling station at the park allowing our community to be better stewards of our environment. Additional funds raised for this campaign will go toward our restoration work at Tibbetts Creek Riparian Project site as well as our new restoration site Bat Box Meadow.  Help us reach our goal of $20,000 today by donating during GiveBig! For each donation of $35 (or more!), FLSSP will name you directly in our newsletter as a contributor to our campaign as well as recognize you on a small sign during the month of June at the park.
