Our Mission

Empowering Youth and Families Outreach's mission is to make a lifelong impact in the lives of underserved youth by offering multifaceted programming that raises resilient leaders who are empowered to achieve their dreams. Over the past 24 years, EYFO has fulfilled this mission by providing services to over 7,000 youth and their families, who participate in our various educational programs with the support of our donors and partners.

Open the Door to College for a Student Who’s Ready to Walk Through It
Your Donation Makes Access Real, Not Just Possible

Since 2016, EYFO has awarded scholarships to 74 students through our College and Career Readiness program. These students, many of them first-generation college-goers, are part of our Cop Every Opp (CEO) program, receiving individualized support to overcome obstacles and unlock their full potential.

However, too many students are still wondering if college is financially feasible. That's where you come in.

A gift to the EYFO Scholarship Fund during GiveBIG 2025 directly helps students like:

  • Simya, who never thought college was in reach until donors like you helped her step onto the campus of Jackson State University.

  • Sosna's scholarship gave her tuition support and time to focus, explore, and lead during her first year at Yale.

  • Caleb, who traveled the country with EYFO college tours and is now attending Seattle University, thanks to a $3,500 scholarship powered by your generosity.

Your donation removes financial pressure, builds confidence, and creates access to opportunities that can change a student’s life trajectory.

Tutors, Tours, and a Ticket to College — Caleb’s Story, Powered by You

Caleb said before being awarded the EYFO College and Career Readiness scholarship, “EYFO helped me during challenging times. When I transferred school districts in the 3rd grade, they helped me adjust to my new school with transportation and tutoring in their after-school program.

Having tutors made a huge difference in my grades and made me feel safe, as I sometimes learned differently than others

Because of EYFO, I’ve traveled to California, New York, Washington D.C., and other East Coast areas through their college tours.

I cannot express my gratitude to EYFO for providing me with experiences that some kids can only dream of. I am incredibly blessed, and I know this scholarship can help pay for my college tuition.”

Thanks to you, Caleb has received a $3,500 scholarship to Seattle University.

She Thought College Was Impossible—You Made It Her Reality

Simya never thought college was an option for her. She shared, “As a first-generation college student, my family didn’t know much about applications, scholarships, or where to start. The process felt overwhelming and, at times, impossible.”

“But then I found EYFO.”

“The EYFO team guided me every step of the way—helping me with applications and scholarships and believing in me when I doubted myself. Without their support, I wouldn’t have gotten into as many schools, and honestly, I wouldn’t have even known what to do.”

And then something incredible happened. Because of the generosity of donors like you, Simya received a $5,000 scholarship—a gift that changed everything. Today, Simya proudly says, “I’m attending Jackson State University and stepping into a future I once thought was out of reach.”

You didn’t just help Simya get to college—you opened doors she thought were closed. Thank you for making the impossible possible. Because of you, “I’m walking into a whole new world of opportunities, and I couldn’t be more grateful.”

Creating Access, Changing Futures: Sosna’s Story Starts With You

Sosna shared, “Receiving the $3,000 scholarship meant more to me than I can put into words. It’s not just financial support, it’s the reason I can fully dedicate myself to my academics, explore new opportunities, and truly make the most of my first year at Yale.”

“Because of your generosity, I didn't have to take on a part-time job immediately. Instead, I  focused on my studies, joined clubs and organizations aligned with my passions, and built meaningful connections on campus. These experiences will help me leave a legacy at Yale that will shape my future, no matter where my career takes me.”

“This scholarship also gave me something valuable, such as financial relief and time. Time to figure out what field I want to pursue, meet with career counselors, and discover what truly excites me. On top of that, it allowed me to afford the necessities I wouldn’t have been able to cover otherwise.
