MISSION OF CLS

Columbia Legal Services (CLS) envisions a Washington State where every individual can thrive with dignity, full human rights, and equitable opportunities. Through impact litigation, policy reform, and community-driven advocacy, CLS addresses systemic injustices that disproportionately harm marginalized populations.

At the heart of CLS’s work are partnerships with communities most affected by incarceration, immigration challenges, and exploitative labor practices. Whether advocating for children in solitary confinement or standing with undocumented workers facing employer abuses, CLS amplifies the voices of those often pushed farthest from power, honoring their resilience and humanity.

WE ACCEPT NO GOVERNMENT FUNDING

Because CLS does not accept government funding, it operates with the independence needed to pursue class action litigation and legislative advocacy alongside incarcerated individuals, undocumented communities, and labor unions. We are in a unique position to hold government systems accountable and work towards equity for all people.
