What's happening now: This year started out as one that has truly tested our ability to save those who need us the most. We receive weekly emails from our shelter partners who are without room, losing hope, and have only a few senior animal rescues to turn to. We try our hardest not to say no but we've had to this year and it hurts our souls. Since starting our foundation in 2016 we've seen a steady incline of animals ending up in shelters and direct owner requests to relinquish their beloved companions. We've had owners pass away suddenly with no directive for their pets and extended families not able to add the pet to their homes. We’ve had owners who can no longer afford to care for their pets due to hardships. We've taken in several relinquished pets already this year. Our hope is that this will change but the reality is that it will likely continue.
Why we need your help: To help these deserving seniors, we commit to the best possible veterinary care, which is the number one expense for senior companion animals. We've never spared any expense to diagnose and appropriately treat to make them as comfortable as possible. This can include echocardiograms, x-rays, advanced imaging, dermatology specialists, dental cleanings, spays/neuters, eye specialists, etc. We want to continue our work, our passion, and our commitment to senior pets in need. When you donate to nonprofits such as ours, we want you to know that our number one goal is our promise to them.
How we've been more impactful: We've helped several pet owners this year with their medical bills, food supply, specialist care, and for one of our very own beloved adoptive owners, end of life expenses.
We are grateful to you for choosing us as your charity. Senior companion animals are in grave danger. They/we need your help more than ever. Your donation literally means the world to us, because without YOU we cannot continue to help THEM.
Mission
We strongly believe and strive to improve the quality of life for senior dogs left behind in shelters and in dire need of care and compassion in their golden years. We have built strong and ethical partner relationships to include an all-foster based rescue. We strive to help educate owners who feel a shelter may be their only resource available for their senior companion. We are advocates for spay and neuter programs and helping owners in need find low-cost programs.
Description
Their reality is.....
Seniors are often deemed less adoptable and when shelters need space they are the first ones to be put-to-sleep. They often languish in the shelter system not understanding where they are and quickly shut down when they realize they will never see their beloved owners again. Most are in dire need of medical care and crave the simplest of human interaction. Most only receive the interaction they longed for when they are removed from their kennel once their time has run out. This is the most heart wrenching of realities knowing that the interaction only comes at the expense of ending their lives that fateful day.
Our Promise is.....
To rescue and improve the quality of life for senior dogs. To be an advocate for spay and neuter programs and to help owners in need find low cost programs. To provide the best medical care, foster hospice care, or in some cases the strength to compassionately let them cross over to The Rainbow Bridge.
TRIPLE YOUR DONATION-Boeing, Microsoft, Amazon, Costco, Google, Expedia, BECU, Starbuck's and many other local companies match donated funds. Ask your company how to stretch your donation even further to help the senior dogs in our care.
