Mission
CHEW Dog Rescue is an all volunteer based non-profit organization dedicated to rescuing abandoned dogs, dogs slated for euthanasia due to shelter space limitations, and other dogs who need us. Our Giving Tuesday fundraiser is an important effort to help us cover the needed costs to save as many dogs as possible.
Description
CHEW rescues dogs from our local community, local shelters, and high kill shelters. We place the dogs in well vetted foster homes and get them any and all medical attention they need to become adoptable. Potential adopters are also vetted with home safety inspections and all references are contacted. Greet & Meets are conducted to insure a good match for the dog and adopter, including any current dogs already in the potential adopter's home. If everything is a good match, an adoption then takes place.
Funding
All dogs taken into CHEW receive needed medical attention regardless of unknown issues that may later be detected. Once a dog is in our rescue, CHEW is committed to bring it to a healthy, adoptable state no matter what the cost or time involved. Last year, these expenses totaled over $76,000 that included spay/neutering, microchipping, dental, parvo treatment for 7 dogs, a needed leg amputation, knee surgery and other less severe medical needs. With a goal of adopting out about 100 dogs each year with a $400 adopter's fee, CHEW relies heavily on monetary and community donations to insure that each dog has the care they need and can be placed in the best possible forever home. No donation is too small and every dollar goes to the dogs!
Recognition
CHEW Dog Rescue relies on donations, the support of our community, and our business partners to do our job successfully. Our heartfelt thanks go out to all who support us so that we may continue to save as many dogs as possible.
