Mission

Architects Without Borders Seattle’s mission is to collaborate with low resourced communities to deliver ecologically sensitive, culturally appropriate, life-changing design. AWBS does this by activating a network of volunteer design professionals from many fields: architecture, landscape architecture, engineering, planning, and more. We solve problems with an upstream approach for good things to happen!

Description

At AWBS we believe in architecture’s ability to address community needs, to improve the environment, and to enhance quality of life. But communities and local non-profits often lack access to the skills and services required to implement building and facility needs. Ideation, concept drawings, fundraising documents, and project/management experience are often needed to promote project progress. Without access to vital resources and expertise, projects are stalled or may never happen. AWBS bridges this gap by providing pro bono services, ensuring that each project has local collaboration, technical support, and alignment with the needs of the community. Locally, our work allows small organizations to more effectively do their work and to serve their missions.
