ACT Contemporary Theatre: where artistic ambition and civic engagement unite.

For nearly 60 years, ACT Contemporary Theatre has proudly produced joyful, adventurous plays that shine the spotlight on incredible local talent and resonate with the heartbeat of our Puget Sound region. We envision a world where the power of theatre expands our collective understanding of community and our own humanity.

Community leaders Evelyne Rozner & Matt Griffin have stepped up with an incredible challenge: every GiveBIG gift will be matched, dollar for dollar, up to $15,000. Join us with a donation before midnight and your gift will go twice as far!

As a thank you, you’ll receive a special ACT tote bag with your gift of $75 or more. When you give $100 or more, you join ACT's Partner Circles and gain access to exclusive benefits and behind-the-scenes experiences, like our popular Tech Talk events.

When you give to ACT, you are a powerful partner in our commitment to...

  • Produce ground-breaking New Works. We bring scintillating stories from Pacific Northwest playwrights from page to stage through workshops, readings, mentorship, and commissions. Thanks to donor generosity, we're presenting TWO World Premieres in our 2024/25 SeasonMrs. Loman Is Leaving by Katie Forgette and Golden by Andrew Lee Creech—that grew out of our 2023 New Works Northwest Festival (NW2). At a time when many theatres are restricting programming, ACT is investing in local artists and pushing the boundaries of American theatre.
  • Nurture the young theatre-makers of tomorrow. Our Young Core Company (YCC) for teens continues to grow, and now includes a leadership development track. This year, we commissioned the first-ever YCC New Work, The Sunless Scar, which was first read at NW2 and had its World Premiere this March. Whether it’s through fun, interactive student programming or real-world skills building for future theatre professionals, our education initiatives are made possible through your support.
  • Keep live theatre accessible for all. We are committed to offering Pay-What-You-Choose options for every performance and Education/Engagement program, ensuring that cost is never a barrier to experiencing the life-changing power of storytelling. With your help, we offer Sensory Friendly, ASL Interpretation, and Audio Description performances, along with a broad range of accessibility devices for every show.

Your donation is essential as ticket sales cover less than 50% of what it costs to produce the bold, entertaining, and thought-provoking plays you love. Thank you for your commitment to ACTyou are vital to our success.

ACT has produced more than 300 plays and musicals, including 47 World Premieres, and is dedicated to producing dynamic and provocative works supporting local excellence reflective of a collective community spirit.
