Welcome to FEEST!
Right Now, students across South Seattle and South King County are organizing for something simple and powerful. Food that actually nourishes them, reflects who they are, and is accessible to everyone. At FEEST, youth are leading campaigns to make school meals fresh, free, and culturally relevant. They are also organizing for mental health support, knowing that food and wellness are deeply connected.
FEEST trains youth of color and working-class youth to build collective power and organize for change in their schools. Each year, we welcome over 40 Student Organizers across 5 high schools into our community organizing program, where they build skills, develop campaigns, and take action on the issues that matter most to them on campus. This work shows up in a lot of places. In classrooms. In meetings with decision-makers. In conversations with each other.
And it also shows up in our kitchens!
Through our Meal Kit program, students receive fresh ingredients and culturally relevant recipes to take home and cook during our online cooking class. The program creates space for students to build skills, try new foods, and connect what they are organizing for with their everyday lives. When students have consistent access to nourishing food, it impacts how they show up in their day-to-day lives. It supports their ability to focus, participate, and feel more grounded at school and at home.
That’s why our food justice campaign is deeply connected to our mental health campaign. FEEST Students are organizing for both because they know these issues cannot be separated. Thriving in school means having access to food, care, and spaces that support their well-being.

🥕What's in the Bag? Food Justice in Action

Each week, fresh ingredients and recipes are packed into simple brown paper bags, ready for students to take home and cook.
It might look simple from the outside. A brown paper bag. But inside, it holds a lot more!
Our Meal Kits are one way to create space for students to build skills, try new foods, and bring what they are organizing for into their everyday lives.
So what’s actually inside the bag?
- Fresh ingredients sourced through local partnerships
- Culturally relevant recipes students can bring into their own kitchens
- Opportunities to build skills and cook with intention
- The leadership and vision of Student Organizers
Every meal kit tells a story. When students lead food justice work, it shows up not just in policy change, but in everyday moments. Sometimes, it looks like a shared meal. When you give, you’re helping fill the next bag, and everything it carries.
